Apple have today announced that iOS 12 will be released on Monday, with emphasis on improving the performance and responsiveness of your device.

Big features in iOS 12

iOS 12 delivers big with performance; with the new OS enhanced for a faster, more responsive experience all round. Daily functions, such as launching the camera and typing with the keyboard, happen faster than ever. There are also significant improvements for when you are doing a lot on your device at once, with faster App launching when under heavy workloads.

Apple are supporting these enhancements to improve performance on devices as far back as 2013s iPhone 5s.

Security

The software will allow users to bolster their security even further, with Safari now preventing Share buttons and comment widgets on web pages from tracking you without your permission.

Advertisers also can’t collect your device’s unique characteristics within Safari, so they can’t identify your device or re-target ads to you across the web.

A smarter way for engaging with content

A more powerful search will help located your desired memories, while offering suggestions for recent events, places and people.

The ‘For You’ tab will intelligently detect and suggest the sharing facility with the people in your photos – and if they are also on iOS 12, they can share their photos from the event with you too.

App and widget enhancements

The update includes a redesign of Apps such as Apple News, Apple Books and Stocks App, meaning you can navigate easier, locate and keep track of your favourite news, channels and topics. Voice memos is brand new to iPad with iCloud – so you can access your voice memos from anywhere.

Your unique passwords for web logins and Apps are created and saved within Safari for safe, secure experience without having to remember each one, while SMS one-off passcodes will appear automatically as AutoFill suggestions.
